What social media platforms do you use?

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, MySpace, this list changes regularly – basically I’m on any social media platforms that I need to know about for my business

How often do you check your social media platforms?

Daily – several times a day. Personal interaction is around once a day but I’m online for my clients throughout the day.

How important is digital media in your business and personal life?

It is essential in my business life, put simply without it my business wouldn’t exist. In my personal life, I use it to run my diary, check news and sports, shop, watch TV and connect with friends and family. I could probably do all of those things without digital media, but it would take a lot more time!

How has digital media enhanced your business?
My business is all about marketing brands on digital platforms, so as I mentioned before, without it my business wouldn’t exist. As well as the multiple marketing channels that are available, the emergence of several online analytics tools has sped up the process of examining and providing clients with feedback on their campaigns.


Do you use digital media to support your chosen charity?

On a regular basis no, but I have sent in donations in via text or online.


How long have you run your business and what is your role?
Two and half years. Managing Director.

Do you use social media to interact with your family or friends?
Yes, I have a large family and a lot of them live abroad so I keep up-to-date on their lives via social media. I also use Skype, chat tools like BBM & Whatsapp to easily message and speak to them.


What do you use social media for mainly work or play?


How do you use social media for business, social interaction, fun, or current affairs?
I use social media for all of the above. Fun is probably at the bottom of that list though as business and current affairs take priority for me.


Do you share your social media updates across all platforms?
No, they’re platform-specific. I pick and choose my updates depending on if they’re suitable for the way people use the platforms and who my contacts are on those platforms.


Do you have two social media profiles? One for business and one for personal use? 

If yes, why?
No, I have a lot of business contacts on my social media accounts so I don’t share anything that’s too personal.


What topics of interest do you follow via digital media?
New technology, new websites / social media sites / online analytics tools, mobile phones, consumer electronics and gadgets, business startups, entertainment and music, sport


Do you use Skype or Face Time?


Do you use Social media on your mobile phone?
Yes, I have an android phone and a blackberry for business. I use social media on both as well as digital chat apps such as BBM Voice, Skype, Viber, Whatsapp etc.

Do you buy or read magazines, journals or newspapers online?
I read news and articles rather than purchasing specific newspapers or magazines.

Do you book your holidays online or go to a travel agent?
Always online

How much of your business and professional life is conducted online?
Around 70% of my business life is conducted online. This is through client audits, building and launching brands and maintenance of those brands as well as emails. The other 30% of time is meetings, events and clients gigs (a lot of my clients are in the music industry).


Do you read and use social media when on vacation?
Yes, as a business owner I have to stay on top of my company profile and what’s happening at all times. Social media and digital tools allow me do this from virtually anywhere. My usage will be less than normal if I manage to fit in a vacation but I will still make sure I have access.
